A HEALTHY BODY IS A HEALTHY MIND .... or is it the other way around?

The pace of daily living is on the increase and most of us are taking strain keeping up. One way to keep up is to take care of our body. Therapeutic massageNot only on the physical exercise side of things but also on the TLC side. Keep your body balanced by introducing relaxing, balancing and uplifting treatments to your normal exercise routine. A bit of time out to pamper and relax the body is another necessity of life and helps to keep the mind healthy too!!!

There are many forms of relaxation techniques available today. Obviously because it's your timeout to relax and take care of your body, try chosing a treatment that you're comfortable with and have faith in. Below are a few treatments I highly recommend.

MASSAGE
Definition: Systematic, scientific manipulation of body tissues with the hands to relieve pain and reduce swelling, relax muscles, and speed healing after strains and sprains. Massage can be applied to parts of the body or successively to the whole body, to aid the process of injury healing, relieve psychological stress, manage pain, and improve circulation. Where massage is used for its physiological, mental, and mechanical benefits, it may be termed "therapeutic massage" or manipulative therapy.

AROMATHERAPY
Definition: Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of plant-derived, aromatic essential oils to promote physical and psychological well-being. Aromatherapy means "treatment using Aroma's" and is used for the relief of pain, care for the skin, alleviate tension and fatigue and invigorate the entire body. Essential oils can affect the mood, alleviate fatigue, reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. When inhaled, they work on the brain and nervous system through stimulation of the olfactory nerves which in turn pass messages to the brain.

The essential oils are aromatic essences extracted from plants, flowers, trees, fruits, bark, grasses and seeds with distinctive therapeutic, psychological, and physiological properties, which improve and prevent illness. There are about 150 essential oils. Most of these oils have antiseptic properties; some are antiviral, antibacterial or antifungal. Some anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and balancing. Other properties of the essential oils which are taken advantage of in aromatherapy are their stimulation, relaxation, digestion improvement, and diuretic properties. Essential oils should be made from natural, pure raw materials. Synthetically made oils do not work.

REFLEXOLOGY
Definition: Reflexology is a therapeutic method of relieving pain by stimulating predefined pressure points on the feet and hands. These pressure points are reputed to connect directly through the nervous system and affect the bodily organs and glands. This controlled pressure alleviates the source of the discomfort. In the absence of any particular malady or abnormality, reflexology may be as effective for promoting good health and for preventing illness as it may be for relieving symptoms of stress, injury, and illness.
